Temple blessings

Today we went to a beautiful Buddhist temple to receive a blessing for the babies. It really was an area of tranquility in the midst of the City of Guangzhou. The most gutwrenching part, however, was seeing some of the beggers outside the temple who had missing limbs and/or hideous injuries of some fashion or another, very sad. For lunch we ate at a local restaurant and had dumplings which were extremely good. Our afternoon was a nice and lazy one. Teresa had a nice long nap and so did Mommy and Daddy. After our naps we went down to the Mattel playroom at the White Swan and had some fun. It is really nice and well equipped for the kids to have fun in. We met another couple from our group who are adopting a special needs girl, Gloria. She is adorable and has malformed digits on both her hands but is in great shape. For dinner a group of us went back to Lucy's to have some more American style food. I had the grilled ham and cheese with french fries and boy was it good. After dinner we went to an ice cream place next to the White Swan and we had ice cream cones which was a nice change. All in all it was a nice laid back day. We still cannot believe that we are parents to this wonderful little girl. She has truly been wonderful to be with and take care of and we feel unbelievably blessed.

Isn't the temple beautiful? If you get a chance, there is an excellent Thai restaurant just a few blocks away. It's wonderful! I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip. Are you guys planning to go to the pearl market?

We went to the pearl market in Beijing and Jen went into power shopping mode. Haven't tried the Thai restaurant mainly because our guide has done a fabulous job of setting us up in local restaurants and trying out cantonese cuisine so we're burnt out on Chinese food at the moment. Lucy's has been a nice change for all of us.

I forgot to mention in our blog that we got scolded for not covering Teresa in the temple courtyard and the lady took a blanket from another couple in our travel group to cover her up. It was all in good fun and we didn't mind. It made us feel like we made into the "in" crowd of adoptive parents who've been scolded for not bundling their kids up to an inch of their lives. Pretty funny. The weather in Guangzhou has been specatucular since we've gotten here. We're very lucky.
